The Academy is governed by a Board of Directors with representatives from Jackson and Josephine Counties, Medford, Grants Pass, Ashland, Central Point, and the Rogue Valley Council of Governments. The Board spearheads the operations and development of the Academy. RVCOG provides the organizational umbrella.
In 2009 we began the process of reorganizing the RVPSA. If you have any training ideas, please call your local Board Member or the Academy Liaison to explore the potential for serving your training needs through Academy Offerings. The Academy wants to hear from you!
The Rogue Valley Public Service Academy is a cooperative effort between Jackson and Josephine Counties to provide local, high quality, affordable training to public servants and other community leaders in our region.
Local governments, non-profits and private businesses alike face a significant dilemma. Training is key to effectiveness, but training budgets are often sacrificed to prevent deeper cuts in services. Organizations often have minimal training budgets and lean staffs. They cannot cover the work load of staff traveling to distant training sites. By bringing affordable, high-quality training home to our region, the Academy provides more affordable opportunities for skills enhancement.
The Academy launched its operations in 1998 with grants from the U.S. Forest Service, the Carpenter Foundation, and the Rural Investment Fund program administered by the Oregon Economic and Community Development Department.
